Renewal agreement: May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2027
Wage adjustments:
2024: 10.3%
2025: 3.7%
2026: 3.3%
Shift premium: 15% where majority of hours worked on a shift are after 3:30 p.m. or before 8 a.m. $50 per day for weekend service work.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 3 weeks after completion of probation, 4 weeks after 5 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 20 years.
Overtime: Time and a half for work performed in excess of 12 hours per day or 44 hours per week. Time and a half for all hours worked on Saturday, unless at the employee’s request. Double time if any work required on a Sunday.
Meal allowance:
Medical Benefits: Employer pays 100% of premium for extended health plan including 90% prescription drug plan, EFAP, $1500 pooled coverage for paramedical, $500 annually for orthotics.
Dental: Based on ODA fee schedule of previous year with 90% co-insurance and no deductibles, $2000 annual maximum.
Vision: $400 every 2 years for frames and regular spectacles, $250 every year if under age of 18 and contact lenses.
Long-term disability: 66 and two-thirds of earnings up to $4,000 per month.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premium for coverage of one times salary rounded to next $1,000, to a maximum of $50,000.
Pension: Employer pays 8.5% of participating employee’s base hourly wage into Money Purchase Registered Pension Plan. Employee pays 6.5% of base hourly wage into Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan.
Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for parent, spouse, child, sibling, grandchild, or parent-in-law. 3 paid days for grandparent, sibling-in-law, or child-in-law. 1 paid day for spouse’s grandparent, uncle, aunt, spouse’s uncle/aunt, niece, nephew, or spouse’s niece/nephew. Maximum 1 leaves of latter type per year.
Sick leave: N/A
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Probationary period: 3 months. May be extended a further 3 months by mutual agreement.
Discipline: 5-step progressive discipline process. Sunset clause of 24 months.
Severance: 1 week’s notice of layoff.
Safety shoes/clothing: $675/year for the purchase of work wear, safety footwear, or tools (including batteries). Increases to $700/year in 2025 and $725/year in 2026.
Mileage: $0.64 per km if employee’s care used for transportation to and from jobsites.
Sample rates of pay:
Labourer: $20.30 - $32.30, increasing in 2 steps to $21.71 - $33.71 by 2026.
Journeyperson: $45.10, increasing in 2 steps to $48.25 by 2026.
Lead Hand: $47.36, increasing in 2 steps to $50.66 by 2026.
Foreman III: $54.12, increasing in 2 steps to $57.90 by 2026.
Editor’s Notes: $55 daily housing and subsistence allowance on long-term, out-of-town jobs. Increases to $57.50/day in 2025, $60/day in 2026.
