Collective agreement: The Regional Municipality of Peel

Renewal agreement: February 1, 2023 to January 31, 2026. 

Wage adjustments: 

2023: 3.5% 
2024: 3.5% 
2025: 3.5% 

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for afternoon and night shift. $0.50 per hour for haulage operators and sub forepersons in waste management, CRC operations for Saturday and Sunday. 

Paid holidays: 13 days plus ½ shift on Christmas Eve and ½ shift on New Year’s Eve. 

Vacations with pay: .83 days per month up to 10 days to start, 10 days after 2 years, 15 days after 2 years, 20 days after 8 years, 25 days after 15 years, 30 days after 25 years. 

Overtime: Time-and-a-half for hours worked in excess of the daily number of shift hours (8) and on the sixth consecutive day of the scheduled work week. Double time for the seventh consecutive day of the scheduled work week. 

Medical Benefits: Employer pays 100% of Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan premium and extended health benefits. $500 per calendar year health care spending account for each employee. 

Dental: Employer pays 90% of coverage for basic services. 50%  for major restorative servies and orthodontic services for dependents under 21 up to $2,000 per child. 

Vision: Employer covers $400 every 24 months. 

Weekly indemnity: 66 2/3 % of basic weekly earnings, from first day of injury and fourth day of illness up to 52 weeks. 

Long-term disability: Employee-paid plan covers 66 2/3 % of basic monthly earnings up to age 65. 

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual rate up to $200,000. Optional life insurance can be purchased by employees. 

Pension: Full-time employees participate in OMERS pension plan. 

Bereavement leave: 3 paid days for death of parent, spouse, child, sibling, parent-in-law, child-in-law, grandparent, or grandchild. Up to 2 days can be reserved for funeral or interment in the future. 1 paid day for death of uncle, aunt, sibling-in-law, grandparent of spouse, or any other family member. 
 
Sick leave: 6 days at regular pay per year. Additional 3 days per year for personal leave. 

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months. 

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at overtime rates. 

Probationary period: 3 months. May be extended up to 6 months with mutual agreement. 

Safety shoes: Employer supplies at no cost to the employee “green label” safety boots. 

Uniforms/clothing: Employer supplies at no cost PPE and attire as required at its discretion. UP to 2 pairs of coveralls/overalls per year (3 pairs for licensed mechanics, machine operators, and truck drivers. $200 annual cleaning allowance. 

Tool allowance: $1,300 annually to mechanics. 

Sample rates of pay:  

Traffic controller – landfill, labourer waste management: $28.34 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $30.36 (2025). 
Meter installer – residental, compost facility operator, operator 1 water/wastewater: $31.88 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $34.16 (2025). 
Survey technician, subforeperson waste management, plant operator, mechanic: $37.30 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $39.96 (2025). 
Survey technologist, subforeperson mechanic/water/wastewater/plant operations, plumber, master electrician: $38.83 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $41.60 (2025).
