Collective agreement: The Salvation Army Eventide Home

Renewal agreement: July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026. 

Wage adjustments: 

2023: 2% 
2024: 2% 
2025: 3% 

Shift premium: $0.10 per hour for all hours worked from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. $0.40 per hour for all hours worked on any shift beginning on or after 11 p.m. Friday and ending on or before 11 p.m. Sunday. $1 per hour for RNs scheduled for an RN shift on Saturdays, Sundays, statutory holidays, afternoon, shift, and night shift. 

Paid holidays: Full-time employees: 12 days plus a day off for employee’s birthday. Part-time employees: 11 days. In addition Sept. 30 is recognized as a paid holiday for staff in provinces where it has not been declared a statutory holiday. 

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 23 years, 7 weeks after 27 years. 

Overtime: Time-and-a-half for all authorized work performed in excess of 8 hours per day, except in dietary department, where 2 shifts worked in a day paid at straight time, or 80 hours in a bi-weekly pay period, or in excess of 7 straight calendar days. Time-and-a-half for all hours worked on a holiday. 

Medical Benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Supplementary Health Benefits including $5 deductible drug plan, major medical, and unlimited physiotherapy. Part-time employees receive 10% of salary in lieu of benefits. 

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan providing 80% coverage of costs. 

Vision: $350 every 24 months. 

Long-term disability: 60% of monthly earnings up to a maximum monthly benefit of $3,000. 

Life insurance: Employer pays for premium for coverage equal to normal annual earnings rounded to the closest $1,000. 

Pension: Employer contributes percentage of employee gross annual earnings to group RRSP – 3% up to 10 years of service, 4% for 11-20 years, 5% for 21-25 years, 6% for over 25 years. Employees may contribute if they desire. 

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of parent, legal guardian, spouse, common-law spouse, child, or step-child. 3 paid days for death of grandparent, sibling, grandchild, parent-in-law, sibling-in-law, or child-in-law. 2 days if employee is unable to attend the funeral. 
 
Sick leave: The greater of 1 day per month worked or 1 hour per 22 scheduled hours for full-time employees, one hour per 20 hours worked for part-time employees. 1 or more days may be delayed in the event of a delayed interment. 

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months. 

Probationary period: 450 hours. 

Severance: For permanent layoff under ESA, 1 week’s notice for each year of service to a maximum of 8 weeks. Whenever possible, employees entitled to less than 2 weeks’ notice will be given 2 weeks’ notice. For permanent layoff, 1 week of regular wages per year of employment, up to 30 weeks’ wages. 

Safety shoes: $140 per year for employees required to wear safety footwear. 

Uniforms/clothing: Kitchen staff provided with aprons if such must be worn during work, also hairnets and disposable gloves. $13.50/month for full-time employees and $9.25/month for part-time employees uniform allowance if required to wear a  uniform. 

Mileage: $0.47 per kilometre for authorized use of personal vehicle on behalf of employer. 

Sample rates of pay:  

Registered nurse (start-8 years of service): $36.07-$47.18 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $38.93-$50.60 (2025). 
Registered practical nurse (start-6 years): $28.78-$32.32 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $31.28-$35 (2025). 
Personal support worker (start-2 years): $26.57-$27.64 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $27.91-$29.04 (2025). 
Cook (start-2 years): $24.37-$25.45 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $25.61-$26.74 (2025). 
Laundry, dietary, housekeeping (start-2 years): $22.45-$23.53 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $23.59-24.72 (2025). 
Maintenance (start-2 years): $24.11-$25.22 (2023) rising in 2 steps to $25.33-$26.49 (2025).
