Renewal agreement: September 1, 2023, to August 30, 2026.
Wage adjustments:
2023: 3.1%
2024: 2.8%
2026: 2.9%
Medical Benefits: Employer contributes to the administration cost and claims under ASO Group Drug & Paramedical Services Plan for each employee. Employer also con tributes to union fund to administer its own plan for benefits not covered by the collective agreement ($486,302 in 2025).
Dental: Employer pays the cost of Administrative Services Only Group Dental Plan for each employee plus five months after the expiration of their appointment contract.
Vision: Employer pays administrative cost and claims for vision care plan up to five months after expiration of appointment contract.
Long-term disability: Employer contributes towards premiums of UNUM LTD Plan or another LTD plan with the same level of benefits for employees who meet certain earning criteria.
Pension: Employer provides opportunity to participate in York University Pension Plan
Bereavement leave: Up to 4/35ths of employee’s appointment contract for death of immediate family member or equivalent.
Sick leave: Paid up to 6/35ths of the period of the appointment contract (1/35th is 1 week in the fall/winter term). For employees with at least 4 months of service earning a minimum of $8,200, the Dean/Principal may grant up to 4 months’ sick leave upon submission of a medical certificate.
Sample rates of pay:
Full teaching assistantship (per academic session): $17,947 (2023), rising in 2 steps to $18,985 (2025).
Course director/writing instructor/team lecturer (per academic session): $20,177 (2023), rising in 2 steps to $21,343 (2025).
Tutor 1 (per academic session): $6,746 (2023), rising in 2 steps to $7,136 (2025).
Tutor 4 (individual tutor): $43.44/hour (2023) rising in 2 steps to $45.95/hr (2025).
Music tutor: $87.24/hour (2023), rising in 2 steps to $92.29/hour (2025).
Coach (fine arts): $50.58/hour (2023), rising in 2 steps to $53.50/hour (2025).
Editor’s Notes: Employer contributes $60,000 each academic year to York Co-operative Day Care Centre for subsidies for employees who use the facility, plus annual contributions to the Childcare Fund ($275,995 in 2025).
