Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2026. Ratified in July 2024. Signed on July 23, 2024.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2024: 3.2%
Effective April 1, 2025: 4.4%

Shift premium: 15 cents for each hour worked during an evening shift. 25 cents for each hour worked during the night shift. 49 cents for each hour worked during the weekend (first shift Saturday to third shift Sunday). $1.50 for all hours spent training new staff. $1.10 for RPNs in charge on night shift when no RN is onsite.

Paid holidays: 12 days including 2 floating holidays per year (full-time employees). 11 days including or 1 floating holiday per year (part-time employees).

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 23 years, 7 weeks after 27 years.

Overtime: Time-and-one-half for hours worked in excess of 7.5 per day or 75 hours per 2-week period, or when called in on scheduled weekend off, or when the majority of the hours worked falls on a statutory holiday. RPN: Time-and-one-half for all hours worked in excess of 11.5 per day or 80.5 in a 2-week period.

Meal allowance: One free meal or meal voucher for employees who on short notice work a double shift.

Medical benefits: Extended health care plan including drug plan with 90% reimbursement for prescriptions and 95% at preferred providers. Employer pays full premium for full-time employees, 70% for job-share employees, 50% for part-time employees.

Dental: 100% coverage based on current ODA fee schedule to a maximum of $1,250 per year. Increases to $1,500 on April 1, 2025. Employer pays full premium for full-time employees, 70% for job-share employees, 50% for part-time employees.

Vision: $250 per 24-month period (12 months for children under 17). Increases to $300 on April 1, 2025. Employer pays full premium for full-time employees, 70% for job-share employees, 50% for part-time employees.

Paramedical: $450 per year. $550 per year for mental health services. Employer pays full premium for full-time employees, 70% for job-share employees, 50% for part-time employees.

Weekly indemnity: First day of disability due to accident or 8th day of disability due to illness, up to 17 weeks. Employer pays full premium for full-time employees, 70% for job-share employees, 50% for part-time employees.

Sick leave: Full-time employees: 1 sick day (7.5 hours) for each month working for the employer. RPNs: 1 additional sick day added with first pay in December. Part-time employees: one-half sick day for each month working for the employer.

AD&D: $30,000. Employer pays 100% of premiums for all employees.

Life insurance: $30,000 for employee, $10,000 for employee’s spouse, $5,000 for each dependent child, $1,000 for an infant. Employer pays 100% of premiums for all employees.

Pension: Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) Pension Plan. Employer contributes 1% of covered wages for each part-time employee with employee matching 4% of covered wages for each full-time employee with employee matching. Employees can make additional contributions up to amount permitted by law.

Bereavement leave: 5 consecutive days upon the death of a spouse (including same-sex, common law), child (natural, stepchild, or adopted), parent or step-parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, or parent-in-law. Maximum of 3 paid days. 1 paid day upon the death of sibling-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, or grandparent-in-law. 1 day can be reserved for future interment.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Call-in pay: Full scheduled shift if called less than 1 hour before the start of the shift and the employee works at least 75% of the scheduled shift.

Probationary period: 450 hours worked. May be extended with written consent of the employer, employee, and the union.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.

Uniforms/clothing: Food Services staff provided with aprons and hair nets free of charge. Uniform allowance of $11 per month for all employees required to wear a uniform.

Sample rates of pay (current, after increase):

Recreation facilitator (450 hours): $23.38 increasing to $25.18 on April 1, 2025.
Social services co-ordinator (450 hours): $24.75 increasing to $26.64 on April 1, 2025.
Head chef (450 hours): $26.31 increasing to $28.31 on April 1, 2025.
Personal support worker (450 hours): $25.44 increasing to $27.12 on April 1, 2025.
RAI admissions nurse (450 hours): $30.45 increasing to $34.49 on April 1, 2025.
