Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $1 per hour for evening shifts worked (to be considered evening shift, shift must begin on or after 3:30 p.m.). $3 per hour for EAs replacing ECEs as their sub. $1 per hour for caretakers shifts that begin on or after 3:30 p.m.
Paid holidays: 12 days, plus one-half day for Christmas Eve day, New Year’s Eve day.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 6% to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks or 8% after 6 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 14 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 22 years for employees hired before Sept 1. 2007. 1.25 days per month or 6% to start, 1.66 days per month or 8% after 6 years, 2.08 days per month or 10% after 14 years, 2.5 days per month or 12% after 22 years for employees hired after Sept 1. 2007.
Overtime: Time and one-half, plus allowances, for first 4 hours after 8 hours of work per day; double time thereafter. Time and one-half for all hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays. Overtime will not be paid unless employee works more than 40 hours per week. May be taken as time off in lieu and must be taken during school year earned. If time off in lieu cannot be taken by end of June in any school year, time will be paid out. If employee works more than maximum days and hours during summer, employee will be paid at overtime rate of time and one-half or time in lieu. After employee has accumulated overtime, equivalent to 24 hours of straight time, any excess time will be paid out to employee.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of cost of Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Employer pays 100% of cost of ASEBP Extended Health Care - Plan 1.
Sick leave: 1 working day per month, maximum 65 working days.
LTD: After 90 calendar days of continuous disability due to injury or illness, ASEBP Long Term Disability Benefit Plan will take effect.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of cost of ASEBP Life Insurance and AD&D, Plan 2.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of cost of ASEBP Life Insurance and AD&D, Plan 2.
Pension: Participation in Local Authorities Board Pension scheme is obligatory after 1 year of employment.
Bereavement leave: Not more than 5 working days for death of immediate family member (spouse, son, daughter, parent, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, parent of spouse, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, common-law spouse, relative who is member of employee’s household). Not more than 10 working days for death of any of immediate family if it applies outside Medicine Hat. 1 day for uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, acting as pallbearer.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for custodial, clerical group; 15 months for educational assistant group.
Call-in pay: Time and one-half for all hours worked on emergency call-ins.
Probationary period: First 6 months of employment. Probation will be extended by equivalent amount for any leaves or breaks more than 10 consecutive working days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for any disciplinary notation or warning in writing.
Mileage: Employees required to use personal vehicle on school business or who work in multiple locations will be reimbursed in accordance with rate per kilometre prescribed in board policy.
