Canadian HR Reporter unveils impressive list of organizations promoting diversity, equity and inclusion
The best employers for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace are those that foster a culture where employees at all levels feel like they belong, are supported, and can thrive.
That’s more than apparent in this year’s 5-Star DEI Employers, who have made outstanding efforts to promote and enhance DEI in the workplace.
So what are the most important criteria to enhance a company’s program?
“Employees feeling that they belong at the company” comes out on top, scoring 4.84 out of 5 in our survey of Canadian employers.
Next up: “Knowing that people’s personal beliefs and traditions are respected,” came in a close second, at 4.80.

Methodology for DEI winners
To determine the companies with the most effective DEI programs, Canadian HR Reporter invited organizations to fill out an employer form, which asked them to explain their DEI initiatives and practices.
Next, employees from the nominated companies were asked to fill out an anonymous form evaluating their workplace on a number of metrics. To be considered, each organization had to have a minimum number of employee responses based on overall size. Organizations that reached a 80 per cent or greater average satisfaction rating from employees were named as the Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace in Canada for 2023.
