Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), Local 1542 have ratified a new five-year collective agreement on July 2 with Arnprior Aerospace in Arnprior, Ont.

“Labour costs for the next five years are a key component to Arnprior Aerospace establishing a competitive position in the global marketplace and this agreement provides that for the employer while giving our members wage security,” said Murray Quattrocchi, IAM Local Lodge 1542 president.

The company has been investing “in upgrades to production line equipment as well as the physical plant to ensure a smoother flow of products between lines in our facilities,” said Mark Simmonds, Arnprior Aerospace vice-president of operations. “This agreement provides for the creation of a working joint committee for the implementation of an expedite manufacturing service. With the union membership on board with this venture, it will enable us to pursue new business opportunities with a more competitive offering.”
