Deal includes wage increase of at least 5.5 per cent
Vancouver Island University faculty members represented by the British Columbia Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) recently ratified a five-year agreement.
Faculty members at the university, as well as on the VIU Board of Governors, finalized the agreement. The parties originally reached the tentative deal on March 12.
Now in force, the new collective agreement will run for five years, ending on March 31, 2019.
The deal includes a wage increase of at least 5.5 per cent over the life of the contract.
The agreement also featured local improvements and language that better supports the approximately 300 faculty members.
