Renewal agreement: Effective May 14, 2019 to May 13, 2023. Signed on July 5, 2019.
Shift premium: $25 per day or any portion of each day spent performing training duties for pro trainers. $1 per hour for all hours engaged for employee doing training/familiarization for hourly employees; $25 (previously $20) for each run for flat rated/mileage drivers doing training/familiarization. $0.60 per hour for all hours worked between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m. for hourly and flat/mileage-rated drivers. $1 per hour (previously $0.75 per hour) for specialty work 1. $1.25 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for specialty work 2. $1.25 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for specialty work 3. $1.25 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for specialty work 4. $1.25 per hour for specialty work 5. $0.02 per mile for all miles associated with trip destined for or originating from U.S.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 10 days or 4% after 12 months, 15 days or 6% after 5 years, 20 days or 8% after 12 years, 25 days or 10% after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 9 hours per day or 45 hours per week.
Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for coverage of $1,500 annual maximum coverage per family member (plan will include major dental at 50% coverage).
AD&D: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for coverage of $50,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for coverage of $50,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute to DC plan, after 6 months of employment. Employee will contribute 2% of gross pay, maximum $900 per year. Effective May 14, 2021: 2% of gross pay, maximum $1,000 per year. Effective May 14, 2022: 2% of gross pay, maximum $1,100 per year.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of father, mother, wife, husband, son, daughter, brother, sister, common-law spouse, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepchild. 1 day for death of grandparent, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. In addition employee may be given maximum 7 consecutive calendar days special leave, without pay.
Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoffs; 3 months if employee accepts position outside bargaining unit.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for any discipline on employee’s file (time worked will not include time on leave of absence or workers’ compensation that is less than 60 days).
Safety shoes: $150 once every 12 months; employee may carry forward entitlement for 1 year for combined entitlement of $300. Safety boots will be above ankle, unless employee has documented medical exemption, CSA-approved, properly worn and in good condition. After probationary period, employer will contribute $25 towards purchase of MaxxDry GripOns boot covers once every 12-month period.
Uniforms/clothing: $250 once every 12 months for clothing ordered from employer or one of its designated suppliers. Employer will provide lined and unlined coveralls as part of uniform allowance (coveralls are not approved uniform item except for shunt drivers). Winter gloves, safety goggles (designed to wear on top of prescription glasses) will be provided to employees upon request.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 2.8% increase):
Straight truck: $18.65 rising 1 step to $19.15
Tractor/tandem axle: $21 rising 1 step to $21.60
Editor’s notes: Paid education leave: Employer will pay $700 per year (previously $500 per year) into special fund for paid education leave. Overnight stays: Employer will pay hotel room costs of driver who is unable to return to Winnipeg in evening due to bona fide mechanical failure of driver’s vehicle. Employer will pay hotel room costs of driver with day cab who is stranded outside Winnipeg overnight for justifiable reasons (such as inclement weather or hours of service).
