Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 6, 2018 to Jan. 5, 2022. Signed on Jan. 6, 2018.

Shift premium: $25 per hour for all first-aid attendants who hold valid St. John Ambulance certificate or equivalent. $1 per hour for all hours worked between midnight and 8 a.m. $1 per hour for all hours worked as lead-hand.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 4% to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5weeks or 10% after 20 years. 4% for casual food and beverage staff paid bi-weekly.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 44 hours per week.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.

Weekly indemnity: Coverage from first day of accident or hospitalization; fourth day of illness, payable for 2 weeks at 66 2/3% of wages, maximum $300 (previously maximum $280).

AD&D: Coverage of $18,000; $19,000 effective Jan. 1, 2020; $20,000 effective Jan. 1, 2021 (previously $17,000).

Life insurance: Coverage of $18,000; $19,000 effective Jan. 1, 2020; $20,000 effective Jan. 1, 2021.

Pension: Employer will contribute $0.19 per hour (previously $0.18 per hour) to Workers United Canada Council Retirement Fund. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $0.20 per hour.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of father, mother, current spouse, child, child of spouse, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. If employee cannot attend funeral, 2 consecutive days with pay for death of spouse, brother, sister, mother, father, son or daughter; 1-day with pay for death of any other relatives mentioned above

Seniority – recall rights: 1year.

Call-in pay: In case of emergency, all maintenance employees called in for work after completing shift will be guaranteed minimum of 3 hours pay at time-and-one-half and receive night-shift premium within
24-hour period.

Probationary period: 460hours worked; 680 hours if employee receives any discipline during 460-hour probationary period.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year; 2 years for 5-day final discipline notices.

Safety shoes: $160 in 2018; $165 in 2019; $170 in 2020; $180 in 2021, for maintenance employees (previously $140). Safety shoe/boots must always be worn by maintenance staff while on job. Safety shoes/boots must bear CSA green triangular patch indication they are grade 1 footwear, equipped with steel toe that withstands up to 125joules; sole protection from nails and other sharp objects.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply and repair, at no expense to employee, when employer requires employees to wear uniforms or special style of clothing and special equipment. 2 uniforms per employee for all employees who are required to wear uniforms (3shirts for employees who wear shirts as part of uniform). 3 sets of uniforms for maintenance employees.

Tool allowance: Employer will replace all worn out or broken tools with tools of equal or better quality when broken tools are produced to maintenance manager and tools have been previously approved for use and documented by maintenance manager. $2 per bag in and $2per bag out for each tour bag handled by bell person.

Mileage: $0.27 per kilometre.

Editor’s notes: Name tags: Employer-issued name tags must always be worn. Maximum 2 replacement tags will be provided; thereafter $7 replacement charge will be charged for lost or willfully damaged name tags. Parking: On-site parking will be provided for employees at no cost on first-come, first-served basis. Empty bottles: Housekeepers may keep any empty beer bottles, beer cans left in rooms at Sheraton on the Falls, Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls, Fallsview Hotel and Skyline Inn. Meals: Employees will be charged with 1 meal per day. Price will be deducted from employee’s pay at $4 per day in 2018; $4.25 per day in 2019; $4.50 per day in 2020; $4.75 per day in 2021. Gratuities: Employees hired prior to Jan. 1, 2018 with 500 + hours in previous calendar year: 8.4% for servers/bartenders; 1.5% for porters (including banquet captains) and culinary/stewards. For employees hired after Jan. 1, 2018: 7% for servers/bartenders; 0.4% for porters; 1.3% for culinary/ stewards; 0.45% for banquet captains. Training fund: Employer will contribute $300 per month into union health and safety training fund for health and safety training.
