Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2023. Signed on Aug. 31, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective June 17, 2019: $0.65 per hour

Effective May 1, 2020: $0.65 per hour

Effective May 1, 2021: $0.65 per hour

Effective May 1, 2022: $0.65 per hour

Shift premium: 110% for any employee who works underground. $0.25 per hour for any employee who performs acid-proof or refractory work. 115% for foreperson (defined as journeyperson who routinely issue orders or provides direction to employees; where 3 or more bricklayers or masons are employed, 1 will be appointed as foreperson). $6 per hour worked on any shift which begins between 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (afternoon shift); $6 per hour worked on any shift which begins between 8:30 p.m. and before 1:01 a.m. (night shift) and no shift premium will be payable for work performed on Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday.

Paid holidays: 12 days plus Friday preceding BC Day, Friday preceding Labour Day. Employee will receive annual vacation pay of 6%; statutory holiday pay of 6% (combined to 12%). Upon termination, employee will receive all annual vacation pay and statutory holiday pay owing.

Vacations with pay: Employee may take up to 3 weeks of vacation in any calendar year.

Overtime: Time and one-half first 2 hours of overtime Monday through Friday. Double time for all other overtime, and all overtime on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays. Time and one-half for first 10 overtime hours worked Friday of Monday through Thursday compressed workweek; on Monday of Tuesday through Friday compressed workweek. Double time for work after 10 hours per day and all hours worked on Sundays and statutory holidays. Time and one-half for first 10 hours of overtime on Saturdays.

Meal allowance: Hot meal will be supplied by employer, at no cost to employee, if working shift is longer than 10 hours and at 4-hour intervals thereafter. If employer is unable to provide hot meal, each employee will receive meal allowance of $25 in lieu thereof.

Medical benefits: Employee will contribute $3 per hour to Bricklayers and Masons Welfare Plan.

Pension: Employee will contribute $3.65 per hour to Bricklayers and Masons Pension Fund.

Probationary period: 90 working days.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply waterproof gloves and aprons to employees engaged in cutting on wet masonry saw or washing down masonry.

Industrial projects which are located inside Lower Mainland

Foreperson: $50.69

Journeyperson: $44.08

Industrial projects which are located outside Lower Mainland

Foreperson: $49.54

Journeyperson: $43.08

Apprentices

A1 (first-term apprentice: 55%

A2 (second-term apprentice: 60%

A3 (third-term apprentice: 65%

A4 (fourth-term apprentice: 75%

A5 (fifth-term apprentice: 80%

A6 (sixth-term apprentice: 85%

A7 (seventh-term apprentice: 90%

A8 (eighth-term apprentice: 95%

Editor’s notes: Training fund: Employer will contribute $0.40 for all hours worked to MCA of BC Training Fund. Administration fund: Employer will contribute $0.13 (previously $0.11) for all hours worked to contract administration fund. Rehabilitation plan: Employer will contribute $0.04 (previously $0.02) for all hours worked to BC Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan (CIRP). Room, board allowance: Employer will provide employee with living out allowance of $150 (previously $145) as option 1. Effective May 1, 2022: $155. Employer will provide employee with single room plus $65 (previously $62.50) for daily meal allowance as option 2. Effective May 1, 2020: $67.50. Effective May 1, 2022: $70.
