Improvements to rates, safety measures: Teamsters
Teamsters Local 91 workers at Cooney Bulk Sales and Cooney Transport in Belleville, Ont., overwhelmingly accepted a new five-year collective agreement during four votes held Jan. 27 and 28.
The accepted offer annually increases mileage rates, hourly rates and U.S. mileage rates, in addition to many other improvements, said the union.
As well, employees will benefit from seven annual weather/traffic delay days allowing them to declare an hourly day as opposed to limiting flat rates. This will be a significant improvement in driver safety on an annual basis, supporting more than 120 professional drivers, according to Teamsters.
The previous agreement expired in late 2016.
