Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2024. Signed on Oct. 26, 2021 .

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 0%

Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2024: 1.75%

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: Pro-rated portion of 10 days to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 8 years, 25 days after 16 years, 30 days after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 1 full shift per day. Double time for all hours worked on Saturday, Sunday for outside employees. Double time for work on statutory holidays.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employer will provide $1,000 per year (previously $750 per year) for health and wellness spending account; unused amount may be carried forward into following year, maximum $2,000 (previously $1,500).

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1.25 days per month or 15 days per year. Unused portion of leave will accumulate, maximum 90 days’ entitlement.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days to make arrangements for funeral after death in immediate family (spouse, adult independent partner, common-law partner, parent, grandparent, grandchild, guardian, parent, grandparent of spouse, child, ward, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-jaw, daughter-in-jaw, fiancée, related dependant of employee); 1 day to attend funeral if employee does not arrange services.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for temporary transfer from 1 branch of department to another branch of same department or from 1 department to another department. 8 months after layoffs. 60 days when employee is temporarily relieving in different classification or when employee is temporarily recalled in different classification.

Probationary period: 3 months (employer may, where warranted by special circumstances, extend period further 3 months). 65 shifts for new employees employed as equipment operators.

Safety shoes: $300 per year for purchase of safety equipment or upgraded safety equipment not supplied by employer which must include CSA-approved safety footwear ($100 per year for seasonal employees). Employee may carry over maximum $300 into following year.

Tool allowance: $2 per $500 of insured value for mechanics who, as condition of employment, are required by employer to supply full complement of tools.

Editor’s notes: On-call: $150 per day for plow-truck operators on rotational basis during non-regular work days (any calls during day will be paid at actual time worked with overtime paid if applicable). Voluntary firemen: Employee will not suffer any loss of wages because of serving as voluntary fireman within county (employee will not double charge as voluntary fireman and will only charge employer, as voluntary fireman after regular hours of work).
