Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2017, to Sept. 30, 2027. Signed on Aug. 28, 2018.
Wage adjustments:

Paid holidays: 12 days. 
Vacations with pay: 14 days or 4% after 1 year, 21 days or 6% after 2 years, 28 days or 8% after 7 years, 35 days or 10% after 15 years, 42 days or 12% after 22 years, additional 2% after 30 years. Unused vacation pay will be paid out in case of layoff. 
Overtime: Double time for all work in excess of regular hours. May be used as time off in lieu. Overtime capped at $3,500. Maximum 16 hours' overtime per 7-day period. 
Meal allowance: $13.80 (previously $13.53) after more than 2 hours of overtime. Effective 2019: $14.08.
Medical benefits: Company will pay $920 per month (previously $826 per month) per officer, in lieu of providing health-benefit plan, which includes life insurance, AD&D, weekly indemnity, extended health-care, LTD, dental coverage. Employer pay 100% of premiums for B.C. Medical Services Plan.
Pension: Employer will contribute 8.5% monthly of each officer’s basic rate of pay to Canadian Merchant Service Guild Western Branch Pension Plan. Employer will contribute 7% monthly and 1% to money-purchase provision of plan. 
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner, father, mother, spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, children, children of officer’s spouse or common-law partner, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, grandmother, grandfather, father and mother of spouse or common-law partner, any relative who resides with employee).
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months. 
Probationary period: 6 months. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 4 years.
Severance: 1 week’s pay per year of service. 
Safety shoes: $150 per 12 months. 
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide any protective clothing or equipment required by applicable federal or provincial regulatory requirements for handling of specific cargo. Employer will provide work gloves, rain jackets, rain pants, 2 pairs of overalls. Employer will provide DOT-approved or U-VIC-style floater coat. 
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 4% increase):
12-hour masters/8-hour masters
Group 2: $45.21 rising 3 steps to $47.04
Group 3: $46.66 rising 3 steps to $48.54
Editor’s notes: Legal-defence fund: Employer will provide legal-defence coverage, paid by employer, at $36.21 per month (previously $35.50 per month). Effective Oct. 1, 2019: $36.93 per month. Marine disaster: Maximum $1,600 when officer suffers loss of clothing, personal effects, navigational equipment, tools because of marine disaster or shipwreck. Medical exam: Employer will pay maximum $150 (previously $125) of doctor’s charge for Transport Canada required medical exam for continued proficiency or STCW 95 certification. Education: Employer will pay each officer who successfully completes required proficiency certificate and STCW 95 certificate: $146.78 per day for attendance in course. Allowance will be increased by 5% on each anniversary date of collective agreement. Allowance will be paid, maximum 15 days every 5 years not including medicals.
