Enercare employees in Markham, Ont., approve collective agreement

Wage increases in each of three years of deal

Workers at Enercare in Markham, Ont., voted to accept a new collective bargaining agreement.

Ratification votes took place the week of March 26 and unionized employees, represented by Unifor, Local 975, approved the new three-year agreement effective April 1, 2017.

"The ratification of the collective bargaining agreement is excellent news for our employees, our business and most importantly, our customers," said John Macdonald, president and CEO of Enercare. "The agreement is the result of a cooperative effort by both parties to achieve a contract that enables us to move forward together in building and growing the business for long-term success."

As part of the agreement, Enercare's unionized workforce will recognize a general wage increase of 2% in year 1, 2.05% in year 2 and a minimum 2% to a maximum of 2.5% of Ontario (all-items) CPI in year 3, said the company.

Enercare is headquartered in Markham, Ont., and is one of North America's largest home and commercial services and energy solutions companies with approximately 4,700 employees under its Enercare and Service Experts brands.
