Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Signed on April 23, 2021.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2019: 1%
Effective April 1, 2020: 1%
Effective April 1, 2021: 1%
Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for all shifts in which majority of hours are worked between 3 p.m. and 7 a.m. $0.25 per hour for each hour worked between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Sunday. Time and one-half for all hours which fall within 11-hour turnaround time for employees who work shift that commences within 11 hours of completing previous shift.
Paid holidays: 12 days including 1 floating day.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 2 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 12 years, 6 weeks after 16 years, 7 weeks after 20 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for hours of work in excess of 7.5 per day or 37.5 per week, and for all hours worked on paid holiday.
Meal allowance: $6 for employees who work 2 hours of overtime or 1 meal provided.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for extended health care plan.
Dental: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for Dental Blue Cross #9 ODA minus 1 year.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $300 every 24 months, including 1 eye exam.
Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 pairs of orthotics every 30 months up to $400.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: Any employee off work due to sickness and who has no further weekly indemnity credits is deemed to be on unpaid leave of absence due to illness up to 12 months maximum, with no seniority accrual.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times employee salary.
Pension: Employer and employee contribute to OMERS Pension Plan in accordance with legislation and terms of plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 paid days for death of spouse, child, stepchild. 3 paid days for death of parent, stepparent, parent-in-law, sibling, sibling-in-law, legal guardian, grandparent, grandchild, child-in-law. 1 paid day to attend funeral of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or to attend as pallbearer.
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for layoffs.
Call-in pay: 3 hours at applicable premium rates.
Probationary period: 65 shifts.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for particulars of work performance which led to discipline (records relating to sexual or moral misconduct, physical assault or resident abuse may be considered in disciplinary matters).
Severance: 1 week’s notice for less than 1 year of service, 2 weeks for 1 year of service, 1 week’s notice for each year of employment after 3 years of service, up to 8 weeks maximum.
Uniforms/clothing: Where employer requires full-time or regular part-time employee to be in uniform, compensating allowance of $0.07 per hour.

Editor’s notes: Extended tours: Introduction of extended tours (11.25 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period) requires agreement of majority of full-time and part-time employees in area. May be cancelled by either party with 10 calendar weeks’ notice. Orthotic coverage: 2 pairs every 30 months, maximum $400 per pair.
