Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Signed on Jan. 1, 2020.

Shift premium: $1.50 (previously $1) over regular general foreperson and foreperson rates (for all hours worked) for general foreperson and foreperson who have achieved status of industrial construction crew supervisor designation from Alberta apprenticeship industry training. $3.50 per hour (previously $3 per hour) worked for employees working afternoon shift (8 a.m. and before 9 p.m.) or midnight shift (9 p.m. and 2 a.m.). Time and one-half for first shift worked when employee is not given 24 hours of advance notice prior to start of new shift.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 6% to start, 7% after 3 years, 8% after 7 years, 9% after 10 years, 10% after 12 years vacation pay for long-term maintenance employees only.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays; double time after 4 hours of overtime, Monday to Friday, and after 12 hours on Saturday; double time for work on Sundays and recognized holidays for 5 8-hour day workers. Time and one-half for all work after 10 hours per day, Monday to Thursday, and on Saturdays; double time after 2 hours of overtime, Monday to Thursday, and after 12 hours on Friday, Saturday; double time for work on Sundays and recognized holidays for 4 10-hour day workers.

Meal allowance: Employer will provide meal for second meal break when employee works overtime more than 10 hours per day. Subsequent meals will also be provided by employer as near to regular 4-hour intervals as possible.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of employee’s spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, sibling.

Call-in pay: Minimum of 2.5 hours’ pay at double basic hourly rate when employee is called in to work on scheduled day off or holiday. Total pay within given 8-hour period will not exceed normal overtime pay for that 8-hour period.

Safety shoes: Maximum $150 reimbursement if employee works in areas where abnormal wear to footwear is incurred, as result of normal duties.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will issue up to 2 pairs of coveralls to long-term employees each 12 months.

Editor’s notes: Standby duty: Whenever employee is scheduled for standby duty on scheduled days off, employee will be reimbursed with 2 hours of pay at double-time for each period of duty. Each period will not exceed 24 consecutive hours; not more than 3 consecutive standby periods will be permitted. Administration fund: Employer will contribute $0.10 per hour worked to general presidents’ maintenance industry administration fund.
