Renewal agreement: Effective June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Ratified in May 2021. Signed on June 1, 2021.

Shift premium: In addition to premium and non-premium pay, employees are paid equivalent of 2.5 hours every pay period — at non-premium meeting rate — for programming, booking potential sheets, weekly focus sheets, kick-off sheets, scheduling clients, and correspondence to clients and management. Personal trainers leading team training sessions will be paid amount equal to 45% of per-session revenue collected. Employees who meet or exceed 120 hours of premium training in 1 month will receive top-up of $2 per session. Employees who meet or exceed average of 120 hours of premium training in employer’s fiscal quarter will receive top-up of $2 per session in each of months in that quarter.

Paid holidays: 9 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 3 months, 3 weeks after 5 years.  

Medical benefits: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for health and welfare plan.

LTD: Employees pay 100% of premiums.

Bereavement leave: 3 paid days for death of spouse, common-law spouse, parent, stepparent, parent-in-law, child, stepchild, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, child-in-law. 1 paid day for death of relative other than immediate family member listed above. 1 day may be banked for delayed funeral or interment. Upon death of client — and at request of employee — employer will pro-rate employee’s required monthly hours to accommodate time spent without pay attending client’s funeral, provided that funeral is within geographic area of bargaining unit.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs or when employee leaves bargaining unit to be employed by employer in different capacity; 36 months due to illness or injury (subject to Human Rights Code).

Probationary period: 3 calendar months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for records of disciplinary action.

Uniforms/clothing: Upon hire, employer will provide each employee with 1 of employer’s preferred uniform. Following completion of probationary period, each trainer will be provided with second preferred uniform. 2 additional uniforms on anniversary date.

Editor’s notes: Minimum workload: Expected minimum monthly training workload for employees is 96 hours per month. Commissions: Employees are entitled to 10% of value of personal training contracts sold by employee; 10% of auto-renewal payments; 10% of team training contracts sold by employee; 5% of personal training alternative sessions sold by employee. Cancelled sessions: Trainer will be compensated as if session was completed when client cancels scheduled training with less than 24 hours or notice and when session is redeemed. Get well/volunteer days: Employees will be entitled to paid get well/volunteer days: 2 days to start; 3 days after 2 years; 4 days after 4 years; 5 days after 6 years. Days may be carried over on year-to-year basis, with no payout of unused days upon cessation of employment. Days may be taken in one-half or full-day increments. Education allowance reimbursement: Amount equivalent to 50% of cost of courses, maximum $1,000 per year for employees with 1 year of service; amount equivalent to 50% of cost of courses, maximum $2,000 per year for employees with 5 years of service.
