Multiprovince (820 translators) and the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE)

Renewal agreement: Effective May 24, 2017, to April 18, 2018. Signed on May 24, 2017.
Shift premium: $40 per day when employee at TR-2, TR-3 or TR-4 level — who is not interpreter — is assigned to interpretation duties for temporary period. $2 per hour for all hours worked between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m., including overtime. $2 per hour for work regularly scheduled and worked on Saturdays and Sundays. $7 per hour for each hour worked before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. $60 per day to employee who occupies official languages interpreter position and performs foreign-language interpretation. $7 per gross hour of interpretation when employee interpreting debate or conference that is broadcast live. $5.50 per gross hour of interpretation to employee who interprets debates of House of Commons. $7 per hour for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
Paid holidays: 11 days. 
Vacations with pay: Vacations with pay: 9.375 hours per month to start, 12.5 hours per month after 8 years, 13.75 hours per month after 16 years, 14.4 hours per month after 17 years, 15.63 hours per month after 18 years, 16.88 hours per month after 27 years, 18.75 hours after 28 years. Time may be carried over, maximum 225 hours. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after regular hours. Double time after 7.5 hours of overtime. 
Meal allowance: $12 when working more than 3 hours of overtime, except where meal is provided to employee. Additional $12 for each subsequent 4 hours of overtime work, except where meal is provided to employee. 
Sick leave: 1 1/4 days per month.
Bereavement leave: 7 days for death in family (any relative residing in employee’s household, father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, spouse, common-law partner resident with employee, child, child of common-law partner, stepchild, ward of employee, foster-child, grandchild, grandparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law). Additional 3 days for travel, if needed.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Severance: First layoff: 2 weeks’ pay; 3 weeks’ pay for employees with 10 or more years of employment; 4 weeks’ pay for employees with 20 or more years of employment, plus 1 week’s pay for each additional year of employment. On second or subsequent layoff, 1 week’s pay for each year of employment.
