Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 30, 2019 to Sept. 30, 2022. Signed on Aug. 30, 2019.
Shift premium: Time and one-half for work performed on first shift changed if employee is given less than 72 hours’ advance notice of change in employee’s shift schedule. $2 per hour for each hour worked, including overtime hours, between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. $2 for all scheduled hours worked at straight-time hourly rates on Saturday, Sunday. $25 per hour for employees whose job duties require them to dive with aid of self-contained air supply (minimum allowance will be 2 hours per dive). 25% of employee’s basic hourly rate for each one-half (1/2) hour employee is required to be in submarine.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 9.375 hours per month to start, 12.5 hours per month after 8 years, 13.75 hours per month after 16 years, 14.375 hours per month after 17 years, 15.625 hours per month after 18 years, 16.875 hours per month after 27 years, 18.75 hours per month after 28 years. Employee may carry over maximum 262.5 hours’ credit into following vacation. All credits greater than 262.5 hours will be paid out.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7.5 hours of overtime; double time for all work thereafter. Double time for all hours worked on employee’s second or subsequent day of rest. Time may be taken as compensatory leave. Leave earned in 1 fiscal year and outstanding on Dec. 31 of next fiscal year will be paid on Dec. 31.
Meal allowance: $12 (except where free meals are provided) for employee who works 3 or more hours of overtime immediately before or immediately following employee’s scheduled hours of work; additional $12 for each subsequent 4 hours of overtime.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for employee wellness program.
Sick leave: 9.375 hours for each month; 1.25 hours for each month for shift workers. Employees may carry over maximum 3 days per year.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster parent, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, spouse, common-law partner resident with employee, child, child of common-law partner, stepchild, foster-child, ward of employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, grandparents of employee, any relative residing in employee’s household). Additional 3 days for travel related to death. 1 day for death of employee’s brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent of spouse.
Call-in pay: Greater of minimum 3 hours’ pay at applicable overtime rate for each call-in (maximum 8 hours’ pay in 8-hour period) or compensation at applicable overtime rate for each hour worked provided period worked is not contiguous to employee’s normal hours of work. May be taken as compensatory leave.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for notice of disciplinary action (period will automatically be extended by length of any single period of leave without pay longer than 6 months).
Severance: 2 weeks’ pay to start; 3 weeks’ pay for employees with 10 years of employment; 4 weeks’ pay for employees with 20 or more years of employment, plus 1 week’s pay for each additional year of employment on first layoff. 1 week’s pay for each year of employment and 1 week’s pay multiplied by number of days of employment divided by 365, less any period which employee was given severance pay on second or subsequent lay-off, for partial year of employment .

Editor’s notes: Overtime transportation: When employee is working overtime and is required to report to work before public transportation services have commenced or to remain at work or to return to work after normal transportation services have been suspended, use of taxi or payment of kilometric rate will be authorized from employee’s residence to workplace and return if necessary. Standby: One-half hour for each 4-hour period for which employee has been designated as being on standby duty. May be taken as compensatory leave. Travel status leave: Employee will be given 7.5 hours off with pay when employee travels outside headquarters area on government business and is away from permanent residence for 20 nights; 7.5 hours off for each subsequent 20 nights away, maximum 37.5 hours per year.
