Provincewide, British Columbia (37 drivers) and Teamsters Local 31

Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2020. Signed on Dec. 18. 2017.
Shift premium: $2.50 per hour to instructional drivers while training. $0.50 per hour for any employee holding first-aid certificate recognized under workers’ compensation board regulations who is designated by company to carry out duties of first-aid attendant, class C.
Paid holidays: 11 days. 
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 120 hours or 6% after 3 years, 160 hours or 8% after 9 years, 200 hours of 10% after 15 years, 240 hours or 12% after 21 years. 
Overtime: Double time for all work after 8 or 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week (exclusive of daily overtime). 
Meal allowance: When employee is required to work more than 2 hours' overtime, employee will receive paid time off to eat at end of shift. Meal period will be paid at applicable overtime rate.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Teamsters - Transport Health and Welfare Trust Plan. Coverage includes: group life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, weekly indemnity, long-term disability, dental, extended health, Medical Services Plan of BC (administration).
Sick leave: After 1 year of service, 1/2 day per month, maximum 30 days. 
Pension: Employer will contribute $2.55 per hour (previously $2.45 per hour) to Teamsters’ National Pension Plan. Effective Jan. 1, 2019: $2.65. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $2.75.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of parent, spouse, brother, sister, child, parent-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, stepchildren, legal guardian, grandparents, grandchildren, spouse’s grandparents. 
Seniority – recall rights: 1 year. 
Probationary period: 90 days. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide any needed uniform or coveralls that will be maintained by employer. Employee must furnish suitable clothing, shoes, gloves, winter-weather protective clothing. Maintenance shop employees will be provided with clean coveralls.

6-axle rate: $25.70 rising 3 steps to $26.88
7-axle rate: $25.70 rising 3 steps to $26.88
8-axle rate: $25.70 rising 3 steps to $26.88

Editor’s notes: Ferries rate: When employees ride ocean ferries with equipment on trips that exceed 8 hours (Port Hardy-Prince Rupert and Alaska ferries) employee will be paid at straight time hourly rate for one-half total hours spent in making trip. Medical exam: When employee is required by employer to take medical outside of regular hours of work, employer will pay maximum 2 hours’ straight time wages for time spent. Industry fund: Employer will make contributions of $0.05 per hour to Teamsters Local No. 31 Union/Industry Advancement Fund.
