Renewal agreement: Effective Dec. 10, 2020 to Dec. 9, 2023. Ratified in April 2021. Signed on June 7, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Dec. 10, 2020: 2%

Effective Dec. 10, 2021: 2%

Effective Dec. 10, 2022: 2%

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for afternoon shift employees. $0.60 per hour for night shift employees. $0.25 per hour for 12-hour day shift employees. $0.72 per hour for 12-hour night shift employees. $2.30 per hour for 12-hour weekend shift employees. Employees on 12-hour shifts who work on Sunday as part of scheduled shift receive time and one-half for all hours worked on Sunday. Outside and plant (yard) employees receive winter bonus of $250.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 0.5 days per month employed to start, 2 weeks after 1 years, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 17 years, 6 weeks after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked after 40 hours in 1 week, all hours worked on Saturday, all hours worked on paid holiday. Double time for all hours worked on Sunday.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for hospital, major medical, and 90% prescription drug coverage.             

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage for 100% basic preventative and 50% co-payment for major restorative.

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health coverage.

STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for salary replacement coverage.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for salary replacement coverage.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for group life insurance.

Pension: Employer deposits $185 per month (previously $175) into each employee’s personal RRSP, except for employees receiving LTD benefits.

Bereavement leave: 5 working days for death of current spouse, parent, child. 3 working days for death of sibling. 2 working days for parent-in-law, grandparent. 1 working day for death of parent-in-law, spouse’s grandparent. 2 days may be retained to attend funeral if it happens later. 1 day may be retained to attend interment if different from funeral.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months after layoffs; 24 months if employee is absent due to illness, injury, on WSIB benefits.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at time and one-half.

Probationary period: 480 straight-time hours worked.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for reprimand or verbal warnings; 12 months for 1-day suspensions; 18 months for 2- to 4-day suspensions, 24 months

Safety shoes: $150 per year towards purchase of safety shoes (previously $135). Outdoor employees received 1 pair of winterized safety boots, winter rubbers, and $150 (previously $135) towards purchase of second pair of safety boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Van drivers receive uniform allowance of $250 per year. 1 apron per finger joint machine for tailors. $150 every 24 months for standard prescription safety glasses, $250 for prescription bifocal, multi-focal, progressive lenses.

Unlicensed maintenance: $31.06 rising in 2 steps to $32.31

Moulder operator tech: $26.85 rising in 2 steps to $27.94

Saw filer: $26.78 rising in 2 steps to $27.87

Primer sander trainer: $25.95 rising in 2 steps to $27

Moulder grinder: $25.37 rising in 2 steps to $26.40

Slitter laminator/floater/sander primer operator/rip saw operator: $24.78 rising in 2 steps to $25.79

Added value operator: $24.54 rising in 2 steps to $25.53

Shipper/lift truck operator: $23.89 rising in 2 steps to $24.86

Editor’s notes: Attendance bonus: Employees who actually work each of regular workdays scheduled for them in 1 work week will receive $50 weekly bonus unless disqualified. Those who don’t qualify because of taking statutory leave, miss days because of work accident, are laid off for part of 1 week will be paid pro-rata portion of bonus. License renewal: Maximum 4 hours of straight-time pay for truck drivers who must take written or road tests associated with obtaining class AZ license.
