Wage boosts, improved benefits part of new deal: UFCW
United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 1006A members working at Nexcycle Plastic in Brampton, Ont., ratified a new contract on Dec. 15.
The new three-year agreement covers approximately 50 workers at the plant, said the union.
“Our membership made significant progress in these negotiations due to their solidarity and unity,” said Wayne Hanley, UFCW Local 1006A president. “I am proud to congratulate them on this new contract, which provides significant gains for workers.”
Some of the highlights of the new contract include wage increases of $1.20 per hour over the term of the agreement and restoration and improvements to the employee benefit plan, according to UFCW.
