Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2018, to April 30, 2021. Signed on June 8, 2018.

Shift premium: 10% of applicable journeyman’s rate for working foremen. 15% of applicable journeyman’s rate for non-working foremen. 10% for all work between 4:30 p.m. to midnight. 15% for all work between midnight to end of shift. 5% for employees working under abnormal conditions involving such things as gas, extreme heat, excessive dirt, prefab, installation of fibreglass and similar physical circumstances which make work unusually exhausting, distasteful or hazardous.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 10% per paycheque for vacations, holidays.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours of overtime (after 8-hour work day). Double time after 2 hours of overtime or on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays.

Meal allowance: Employer will provide adequate meal after 2 hours of overtime and every 4 hours thereafter. In lieu of meals, employer will pay $26.

Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $2.05 per hour into professionally administered benefit fund.

Pension: Employer contributes $7.23 per hour ($6.23 per hour for journeymen) into professionally administered pension plan fund.

Bereavement leave: 5 days unpaid (2 days paid after 2 years of unbroken service with contractor) for death in immediate family (children, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, spouse, spouse’s parents).

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide welding gloves, work gloves, rainwear, hard hats. Employer will replace employee’s coveralls if they are ruined during course of unusually dirty work.

Editor’s notes: Training fund: Employer will contribute $0.12 per hour to Nova Scotia Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee and $0.90 per hour to UA Local 56 Training Fund. Building fund: Employer will contribute $0.30 per hour to UA Local 56 Building Fund. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.28 per hour to Promotion, Education and CLRA Industry Improvement Fund. Room and board allowance: $127 per day (previously $125) per day. Effective May 1, 2020: $129 per day. Travel/living allowances: $625 per week rising 2 steps to $645 per week for 5 days worked; $875 per week rising 2 steps to $903 per week for 6 days worked.
