Employees of Patient Transport Services are the latest Manitobans to unionize with the Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union (MGEU) on Feb 26.

Formerly Stretcher Services of Manitoba and based out of Winnipeg, the union’s newest members are the largest provider of non-emergency patient transport services in Manitoba, according to MGEU.

“We now have 86 new members at Patient Transport Services and we are so happy to represent the stretcher attendants and dispatchers,” said Michelle Gawronsky, MGEU president.

The next step for the new members is to elect a local executive and bargain their first contract, said the union.
