Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on Nov. 1, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2020: 2%

Effective July 1, 2021: 2%

Shift premium: $0.28 per hour for weekend work for regular drivers; all weekend work beyond 8 hours per day will be time and one-half and double time for all work after 12 hours per day. $0.40 per hour (previously $0.28 per hour) for work after 4 p.m. or on Saturdays. $0.45 per hour (previously $0.32 per hour) for work after midnight. $0.50 per hour (previously $0.38 per hour) for charge-hands. $1.75 per hour (previously $1.52 per hour) for foreman. $2.85 per hour (previously $2.60 per hour) for general foreman. $0.50 per hour (previously $0.40 per hour) for employee with level 1 first-aid certificate; $1.10 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for employee with level 2 first-aid certificate. 1 additional hour of pay for employee who reports to work prior to 6 a.m. for snow removal. $0.28 per hour for any employee who is required to be bilingual as part of regular duties. $1.36 per hour for employee who, as part of job or special project, does asbestos removal. $1.62 per hour for electrical general foreman.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 6% to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 6 years, 25 days after 12 years, 30 days after 23 years, 1 additional day of vacation for each of service, maximum 5 days, after 24 years.

Overtime: Paid at time and one-half for first 3 hours; double time thereafter and on Sundays. Time may be banked, must be taken within 12 months of will be paid out on pay period after June 30.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums to Medical Services Plan of B.C.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $200 every 24 months.

Paramedical: 80% coverage for physiotherapists, chiropractor, masseurs, naturopath, podiatrist, speech therapist, acupuncturist; maximum $100 per person per year.

Sick leave: 1.5 days per month, maximum 120 days, after 3 months of service. One-third of accumulated leave will be paid out upon termination or more than 24 months of layoff, after 5 years of service.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $50,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $50,000.

Pension: Employees, employer will contribute to Municipal Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, including common-law spouse/same-sex partner, children, (including stepchildren ), parents, (including stepparents), sisters, brothers, grandparents, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father -in-law).

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for layoffs; 12 months for employees in excluded positions or for employee transferred to position outside bargaining unit.

Probationary period: 3 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for reprimands.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply coveralls or smocks for employee use.

Tool allowance: $300 (previously $225), paid on Dec. 1 of each year, for all maintenance tradespersons who maintain own tools; $600 (previously $500), paid on Dec. 1 of each year, for all mechanics who maintain own tools (painters will not receive tool allowance).

Labourer 1/supervision aide/crossing guard: $21.49 rising 2 steps to $22.36

General clerk/general secretary: $22.05 rising 2 steps to $22.94

Labourer 2: $22.64 rising 2 steps to $23.55

Caretaker/library clerk: $23.24 rising 2 steps to $24.17

Grounds person 1/booking and distribution clerk/district library resource clerk/emergency caretaker: $23.81 rising 2 steps to $24.78

Maintenance helper/courier/school secretary 1/IS project secretary/support secretary ISEP/cafeteria attendant/maintenance service caretaker: $24.37 rising 2 steps to $25.36

Administrative assistant finance/central receive-shipping clerk/school food program planner/coast Salish cultural worker/school secretary 1 records: $24.96 rising 2 steps to $25.97

DAC general secretary/aboriginal education assistant: $25.54 rising 2 steps to $26.57

Secondary budget, account clerk/chefs teaching assistant/computer assist learning tutor/Ab Hulquminum language tutor/student records clerk/grounds person 2/education assistant 2/benefits specialist/admin sec-super/sec. treasure/aboriginal ed tutor secondary/: $26.11 rising 2 steps to $27.16

Bus driver, mechanic helper/strong start facilitator/education assistant 3/multimedia designer specialist/secretary ISE program/sprinkler mechanic/maintenance office assistant/bus driver, front end person: $27.26 rising 2 steps to $28.37

Editor’s notes: Professional development days: Employer will provide minimum of 2 paid professional development days per school year for all employees. Employees will be paid for actual hours in attendance or regularly scheduled hours of work, whichever is greater. Field trips: When education assistant/supervision aide participates in field trips that extend beyond regular hours of work, education assistant will receive compensatory time off (accrued at appropriate overtime rate). Private vehicle damage: When employee’s vehicle is damaged at worksite or approved school function or as direct result of employee being employed by employer, employer will reimburse employee: lesser of actual vehicle damage repair costs or cost of deductible portion of insurance coverage on vehicle, maximum $600.
