Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2018 to April 30, 2021. Signed on Oct. 23, 2018.
Wage adjustments:
Effective date of ratification: $0.50 per hour
Effective May 1, 2019: $0.25 per hour
Effective May 1, 2020: $0.35 per hour
Shift premium: Employee will be paid at rate of highest classification provided employee works in higher classification for 4 or more hours during shift where employee occupies position that combines 2 or more classifications of work (except as otherwise provided). Employee temporarily assigned work classified at higher rate of pay will receive higher rate while occupying classification, provided employee works more than 1 hour in higher classification.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 7 years. Employees may request that 1 week of vacation be banked and taken during following year (requests will not be unreasonably denied).
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day 5 days in any 7-day period or 40 hours in any 5-working-day period; double time after 3 hours of overtime. Time may be accrued as banked hours. On Dec. 31 of each year, employees will have banked hours paid out. Time and one-half for all work on sixth consecutive day; double time for all work on seventh consecutive day.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums ($1.99 per hour) (previously $1.89 per hour) to Unifor Benefits Trust. Effective May 1, 2020: $2.10 per hour. Employer will cover full cost of Medical Services Plan (MSP).
Sick leave: 3 days per year (unused care days will not be carried over from year to year and will not be paid out).
Pension: Employer will contribute $0.40 per hour into RRSP chosen by employee. All employees will become eligible after 1 year of service.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, legal guardian, son, daughter, sister, brother, spouse, partner, current father-in-law, current mother-in-law, current brother-in-law, current sister-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, stepparents, stepchildren, same-sex partners and children as long as they live with employee as member of employee’s family).
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months to start; 12 months or length of hotel renovations, whichever is longer, after 1 year of seniority.
Call-in pay: Time and one-half for all work with less than 8 hours of rest from work.
Probationary period: First 60 work shifts, maximum 4 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for verbal or written warning; 24 months for suspensions.
Severance: 12 hours of pay for each year of service.
Uniforms/clothing: All uniforms required by employer to be worn while on duty will be supplied, laundered, provided with normal repairs (hemming of pants, sleeves) by employer at no cost to employee.

Editor’s notes: Training program: When employer requires employee to attend training program either on or outside premises, employer will pay for all fees and associated expenses of program. Employee will be paid regular straight-time wages when attending courses. Paid education leave: Employer will pay $0.01 per hour per employee for all hours worked to Unifor Leadership Training Fund to provide paid education leave. Wholesome-meal entitlement: 1 wholesome meal will be supplied by employer to all employees who work 5 or more hours per day. Parking: Employees will be provided with free parking however, as free parking is considered taxable benefit, employees issued yearly parking passes will be subject to appropriate tax statutes.
