Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2023. Signed on May 16, 2018.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective April 1, 2018: 2.5%
Effective April 1, 2019: 2.5% or COLA, whichever is higher, maximum 4%
Effective April 1, 2020: 2.5% or COLA, whichever is higher, maximum 4%
Effective April 1, 2021: 2.5% or COLA, whichever is higher, maximum 4%
Effective April 1, 2022: 2.5% or COLA, whichever is higher, maximum 4%
Shift premium: Time and one-half for minimum 1 hour when officer working inside: bunker C, lubricating oil; dirty oil-cargo tanks; sludge tanks; oil tanks; water tanks; cofferdams; boilers; evaporators; cleaning dirty engine-room tank-tops; dirty bilges; below floor plates; tunnels. $2,400 per year winter premium for chief engineers. $1,500 per year service-bonus for all permanent officers.
Paid holidays: 13 days. 
Vacations with pay: 4% to start, 5% after 1 year, 7% after 5 years, 9% after 10 years, 10% after 15 years. Time off: 49 days per year for master; 42 days per year for mate; 35 days per year for chief engineer. 
Overtime: Applicable composite rate multiplied by 1 and one-half times. 
Medical benefits: Benefits covered under HealthSource Plus plan. 
Sick leave: Maximum 5 days per year, may not be carried over to following year. 
Pension: As condition of employment, officers will become members of company pension plan. Employees will contribute 9% to RRSP portion of pension plan. Employer will contribute to DPSP (deferred profit-sharing plan) portion of pension plan. 
Bereavement leave: Maximum 20 days for death of spouse, children. Maximum 10 days for death of sister, brother, parents, parents-in-law, grandparent, grandchildren, relative living with employee. 
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for officers outside scope of agreement, 24 months for officers who were laid off. 
Probationary period: 3 months or 90 days worked. 
Severance: 5 days’ pay for every year of service for officers laid off longer than 24 months. 
Safety shoes: Employer will provide $350 per year (after 90 days of service) for CSA-approved safety boots, as well as winter clothing, raingear. 
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 3 pairs of new coveralls or work clothes at fit-out each season (will be replaced when necessary). Employer will provide work gloves. Employer will provide 1 pair of insulated coveralls, upon written request. 
Mileage: $0.53 per kilometre for employer-approved use of personal vehicle for employer business. 
Sample rates of annual pay (current, after 13% increase):
Senior master: $105,929.47 rising 5 steps to $119,849.47
Junior master: $96,892.54 rising 5 steps to $109,625.02
Mate: $78,786.83 rising 5 steps to $89,140.07
Senior chief engineer: $98,865.39 rising 5 steps to $111,857.11
Junior chief engineer: $94,251.46 rising 5 steps to $106,636.88
Signing bonus: $2,500 for each officer on pay period following ratification
Editor’s notes: Legal insurance: Employer will provide legal defence insurance paid by company at rate of $2 per day per position. Marine disaster: Maximum $5,000 for loss of clothing, personal effects through fire, flood, marine disaster, shipwreck. Transportation costs: Employer will pay for first-class surface passage, economy airfare, two-way car allowance or $0.53 per kilometre, when officer has served continuously from spring fit-out to fall lay-up. Applies to employees living outside 200-kilometre radius from Pier 24, Hamilton. Training courses: $70-per-day meal allowance ($15 for breakfast; $25 for lunch; $30 for supper) when officer is provided accommodation while on training course. Prescription safety glasses: $200 every 24 months.
