Teachers at the Islamic Institute of Toronto join UFCW

Like their colleagues in Scarborough, Ont., the teachers at the Islamic Foundation School in Toronto voted to join United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW) Local 175 May 23.

The 22 full-time teachers employed at the private school are looking for job security. The workers are also seeking better benefits and compensation, said the union.

The UFCW is seeking meeting dates with the employer to begin the process of bargaining the first collective agreement.
