Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2027. Signed on Aug. 29, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2022: 3%

Effective May 1, 2023: 2.5%

Effective May 1, 2024: 2.5%

Effective May 1, 2025: 2.5%

Effective May 1, 2026: 2.5%

Shift premium: $2.50 per hour to employees who have achieved ARFF (aircraft rescue and fire fighting) certification as per Canadian aviation regulations. $1 per hour for all hours worked on Saturday, Sunday.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 5.8% after 1 year; 4 weeks or 7.7% after 6 years; 4 weeks, 1 day or 8.1% after 7 years; 4 weeks, 2 days or 8.5% after 8 years; 4 weeks, 3 days or 8.8% after 9 years; 4 weeks, 4 days or 9.2% after 10 years; 5 weeks or 9.6% after 11 years; 5 weeks, 1 day or 10% after 12 years; 5 weeks, 2 days or 10.4% after 13 years; 5 weeks, 3 days or 10.8% after 14 years; 5 weeks, 4 days or 11.2% after 15 years; 6 weeks or 11.5% after 16 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours worked after normal scheduled daily hours; double time for all hours worked thereafter, including all hours worked into following day. Time and one-half for first 8 hours worked on first day of rest; double time for all hours worked thereafter. Double time for each hour worked on second or subsequent day of rest, including all hours worked into following day (second or subsequent day of rest means second or subsequent day in unbroken series of consecutive and contiguous calendar day of rest).

Meal allowance: $30 for employee who works 3 or more hours of overtime immediately prior to or immediately after employee’s scheduled hours of work. 1 additional meal of $30 for each 4-hour period of overtime worked thereafter

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1.25 days based on previous month for employees with less than 30 hours per week. 10 hours per month, maximum 80 hours, for employees with 40 hours per week; 7.5 hours per month, maximum 60 hours, for employees with 30 to 39 hours per week. Employee will receive upon retirement or upon leaving workforce after 15 years of service due to an injury or illness, 20% of unused accumulated earned sick leave.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.

Pension: B.C. Municipal Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (parent (father, mother or stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law spouse resident with employee), child (including child of common-law spouse), stepchild, ward of employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-on-law, niece, nephew, relative residing in employee’s household).

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoff.

Call-in pay: Greater of 3 hours’ pay at applicable overtime rate or applicable rate of overtime compensation for time worked, provided that period worked is not contiguous to normal hours of work.

Probationary period: 6 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for any document or written statement related to disciplinary action.

Severance: On first layoff, 2 weeks’ pay for first year of service and 1 additional week’s pay for each additional year of service. On second or subsequent layoff, 1 week’s pay for each year of service.

Safety shoes: Maximum $400 every 2 years (previously $2h00 every 2 years).

Editor’s notes: Recreational passes: Employer will pay for recreation passes (monthly, semi-annual or annual): 100% of single pass for permanent employees only or 30% of family pass for permanent employees, maximum $500 per year per employee. Standby: $18 for each 8 consecutive hours or portion thereof on standby.
