Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Signed on March 9, 2021.

Shift premium: $1.50 for all hours worked for employees working scheduled shift of which 2 or more consecutive hours fall between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. $1.55 per hour employee for all hours so designated as lead-hand. $1 per hour while performing work, maximum 40 hours, for operator assigned who provides on-job equipment training.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 15 days to start, 1.66 days per month or 20 days after 6 years, 2.08 days per month or 25 days per year after 14 years, 2.5 days per month or 30 days after 24 years for full-time employees; employee who has completed 10 years of service will receive additional 5 days of vacation — to be taken no later than next anniversary date — in eleventh-year of employment; employee who has completed 20 years of service will receive additional 5 days of vacation — to be taken no later than next anniversary date — in eleventh-year of employment; employee who has completed 30 years of service will receive additional 5 days of vacation — to be taken no later than next anniversary date — in eleventh-year of employment. 9% to start, 11% after 2 years, 12% after 8 years, 14% after 18 years, 16% after 30 years for part-time employees.

Overtime: Double time for work after regular hours of work. Employee may take time off in lieu of overtime, maximum 80 hours per year, providing time is allocated based on operational requirements. All banked overtime accumulated and not used as of pay period 24 cut-off of each year, will automatically be paid to employee in pay period 25 (employee may apply to supervisor to carry forward up to 40 hours to following year).

Meal allowance: Employees will be given break 30 minutes and meal or reimbursement should employee work more than 2 hours over regular shift (reimbursement for cost of meal is not to exceed Alberta government meal allowance rates).

Medical benefits: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums. Employees will be covered under City of Fort Saskatchewan group benefit plan, that includes health care spending account or wellness spending account ($500 per year for full-time employees; $250 per year for part-time employees). Unused health care/wellness spending account credits (dollars) may be carried forward to next policy year (carried forward credits must be used within 12 months to avoid forfeiture).

Dental: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.

Sick leave: Part-time employees will accrue sick leave credits at 2.25% of regular earnings (once employee has obtained equivalent hours of 1 year’s full-time service, 6.75% of regular earnings). 1.5 days sick leave per month for full-time employees, maximum 130 working days of accumulation. Employee will receive lump-sum equivalent to 50% of unused accumulated sick leave on reaching retirement in employer’s service.

LTD: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.

Pension: Every eligible employee will participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, spouse, common-law spouse, fiancée, brother, sister (stepsiblings or in-laws), child, stepchild, grandchild, grandparent (including those of spouse), former guardian, any other relative who has been residing in same household. When burial occurs outside of Alberta, leave will also include reasonable traveling time, maximum 4 days. All employees will be given 1 day leave to attend funeral for anyone not listed or to administer bereavement responsibilities such as executor or pall bearer.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours will be paid if emergency work can be performed in 3 hours or less. Any emergency work longer than 3 hours will be paid on basis of hours worked. Should second or subsequent call-in occur and be completed within 3 hours of first call-in, it will be considered 1 call-in.

Probationary period: 3 months from date of hiring.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months of active employment for documented verbal conversations, written counseling, coaching letters related to performance or comprehension; 24 months of active employment for disciplinary actions.

Severance: 1 week for every year of service to start; 2 weeks for every year of service after 10 years.

Safety shoes: $300 per year ($150 per year for part-time employees) when employer requires safety footwear to be worn.

Uniforms/clothing: $250 once every 24-month period (previously $250 once every 36-month period) for CSA-approved safety glasses, with fixed side-shields, for employees who wear corrective glasses and whose duties involve work identified through hazard assessment as requiring safety glasses for minimum of 50% or 1,040 hours per year
