Renewal agreement: Effective Dec. 16, 2016, to Dec. 15, 2019. Signed on March 1, 2017.
Wage adjustments:
For RPNs 
Effective Dec. 16, 2016: $0.10 per hour
Effective Dec. 16, 2017: $0.10 per hour
Effective Dec. 16, 2018: $0.15 per hour
Shift premium: $8 per shift (previously $7.50 per shift) when employer temporarily assigns employee to carry out responsibilities of employee outside bargaining unit for longer than one-half of shift. $8.50 per shift (previously $8 per shift) when RN is absent and employer assigns RPN for longer than one-half of shift. $1.50 per hour for new employee and training employee during orientation session. $0.30 per hour (previously $0.25 per hour) for each hour worked between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Sunday. Effective Feb. 6, 2017: $0.35 per hour.
Paid holidays: 9 days, plus 2 float holidays. 
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 23 years, 7 weeks or 14% after 28 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7.5 hours per shift or 75 hours every 2 weeks. 
Meal allowance: 2 paid meals if working extra day shift, 1 paid meal if working extra night shift. Free meal or $5 if working 3 hours after regular shift. 
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for equivalent to Blue Cross #9 Plan. Fluoride treatments will be covered only for dependants younger than 18. Maximum $2,000 per person per year.
Vision: $225 (previously $200) every 24 months. Effective Jan. 1, 2019: $250 every 24 months.
Sick leave: 7.5 hours per 162. 5 hours worked, maximum 52.5 hours.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $20,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $20,000.
Pension: Nursing Home and Related Industries Pension Plan. Employer will contribute 4%, employee contributes 4%. 
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of spouse, same-sex partner, child, stepchild. 3 days for death of mother, father, stepparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, legal guardian, grandparent, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law. 1 day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew. Additional 4 days unpaid leave may be given for travel. 
Seniority – recall rights: 36 months. 
Probationary period: 450 hours worked. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for letters of reprimand, 18 months for suspensions.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will pay $0.07 per hour for employees required to wear uniform.

Nurse aide
Start: $17.61 rising 2 steps to $18.11
1 year: $19.02 rising 2 steps to $19.56
2 years: $19.23 rising 2 steps to $19.77
3 years: $19.37 rising 2 steps to $19.92
4 years: $19.57 rising 2 steps to $20.12

Start: $23.91 rising 2 steps to $24.84

Editor’s notes: Hearing aid: Employer will implement $300 hearing aid benefit. Special dues assessment: Employer will pay into fund $0.02 per hour per employee for all paid hours into fund established by Service Employees’ International Union, Local 1 Canada.
