Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2018. Signed on Aug. 17, 2016.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective Sept. 2015: 2%
Effective Sept. 2016: 2%
Effective Sept. 2017: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 2018: 1.5%
Effective June 30, 2018: special adjustment of maximums for Class 4 ($500), Class 5 ($400), and Class 6 ($420)
Vacations with pay: Teachers receive 1 day of paid leave per 50 hours of extra-curricular activities over 2 consecutive school years, to a maximum of 2 days per school year. Part-time teachers receive equivalent time off.
Medical, benefits: Employer pays premiums.
Dental: Employer pays premiums.
Sick leave: 20 days per school year. For teachers with more than 1 year of employment, unused sick leave can be carried over to a maximum of 40 days in the second year, 60 days in the third year, 80 days in the fourth year, 100 days in the fifth year, 120 days in the sixth year, and 130 days in the seventh and subsequent years. Part time teachers received pro-rated sick leave based on full-time equivalents.
STD: Employees pay premiums for short-term disability plan.
LTD: Employees pay premiums for Manitoba Teachers’ Society Disability Benefits Plan, administered by employer.
Life insurance: Employer and employees share cost of group life insurance plan, administered by employer.
Bereavement leave: Up to 5 days per year for serious medical issues for members of immediate family.
Seniority – recall rights: 1 calendar year after Sept. 30, following date of layoff.
Sample rates of annual pay (current, after increase):
Class 3 teacher: $43,627 rising in 8 steps to $62,056
Class 4 teacher: $51,785 rising in 9 steps to $77,871
Class 5 teacher: $55,278 rising in 10 steps to $86,052
Class 6 teacher: $57,906 rising in 10 steps to $90,163
Class 7 teacher: $61,814 rising in 10 steps to $94,005
Substitute teacher without a degree: $114.32 per day
Substitute teacher with a degree: $144.54 per day
Principal: $9,100 to $33,500 on top of base pay, based on school enrolment
Vice-principal: 50% of principal’s allowance if administrative duties performed at least 60% of the school day; 45% of principal’s allowance if admin duties for 40 to 59% of school day; 35% of principal’s allowance if admin duties for 10 to 39% of school day.
Student services administrator: $9,275 on top of base pay
Editor’s notes: Preparation time: Employees receive at least 180 minutes of preparation time per 6-day cycle for full-time employees. Leave of absence for executive duties: If a teacher is a member of the Manitoba Teachers’ Society Executive Committee, maximum 6 day teaching days off to attend committee business. Leave for graduation/convocation: A teacher may be absent from school for 1 day per year to attend her own (or child’s or spouse’s) graduation or convocation.
