Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Ratified on Oct. 8, 2019. Signed on March 10, 2020.
Paid holidays: 12 days, plus 3 days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 2 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 6 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 10 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after regularly scheduled hours of work. May be taken as time off in lieu, maximum 30 hours. Overtime may be paid out at any time during year.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: Regular full-time employees will be granted 12 sick days at beginning of each year, maximum credit of 24 days. Employees will accumulate 11.25 hours per month (135 hours per year), maximum 120 days’ credit.
STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Every regular full-time employee will join Local Authorities Pension Plan, after 1 year of service.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (spouse, parents, sisters, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, children, stepparents, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, stepchildren, brothers, father-in-law, son-in-law, stepgrandparents, stepgrandchildren, relative permanently residing in employee’s household (relationships are deemed to include current common-law relationships, including same-sex partners, of employee). 2 additional days will be given for travel purposes when service is located outside Alberta.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months following date of layoff.
Call-in pay: Overtime rate for all hours worked or minimum of 2 hours, whichever is greater.
Probationary period: 487.5 hours worked, equivalent to 90 days for full-time employees. Period may be extended, maximum 2 months (no employee will be required to serve probationary period greater than 5 months long).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for prior warnings or letters of discipline.
Safety shoes: $200 every 2 years for maintenance labourers, maintenance worker 2.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 2 uniform shirts and pants per year; 1 all-season coverall per year; 1 reflective vest as required; 1 pair of painters pants per year; 1 winter coverall every 2 years for maintenance labourers, maintenance worker 2. Employer will provide $200 per year as clothing and shoe allowance to purchase necessary uniforms of colour agreed to by employer for regular housekeeping employees.

Editor’s notes: On-call: $1.50 per hour for all on-call hours between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. $2 per hour for all on-call hours between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Monday and general holidays. Paid for all hours worked from time of call or for 2 hours, whichever is longer, at overtime rate. If second call is received when 2-hour minimum is being paid to employee, employee will continue to be on overtime until completion of second call. Out-of-town meals: $15 for breakfast; $20 for lunch; $30 for dinner. Training: Employer pays 50% of cost, union pays 50% of cost for compulsory training: WHIMIS every year; CPR/AED every 3 years; confined space every 3 years for maintenance labourers, maintenance worker 2. If employee is required to attend mandatory course or approved course related to work on regularly scheduled day off, employee will be paid at applicable overtime rate. Living allowance: $1,040 per month — paid on biweekly basis of $480 — for cost of living in Fort McMurray, Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
