Workers at the Red Lobster in Burlington, Ont., are the newest members of United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW) Local 1006A after recently voting to join the union on Jan. 2.

The 60 employees work as servers, hosts, cooks and bartenders at the seafood restaurant.

Workers were concerned about such is issues as scheduling, vacation, sick days and tip payout, according to the union.

“We continue to see strong interest from restaurant and hospitality workers looking to join our union,” said Wayne Hanley, president of UFCW Local 1006A.

UFCW Canada Local 1006A represents more than 36,000 members working in a diverse range of sectors across Ontario.
