CPP form available online

Form to stop contributions to CPP on Canada Revenue Agency’s website

The CPT30 form, which will allow employees affected by the changes to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) in 2012 to opt out of contributions, is now available online.

The form, called CPT30 (Election to Stop Contributing to the Canada Pension Plan or revocation of a Prior Election) is for employees who are at least 65 years old but younger than 70 who are collecting CPP or Quebec Pension Plan (QPP).

These employees will be able to choose whether or not they want to contribute to the CPP as of Jan. 1. If they choose not to contribute they will have to fill out the form, send the original to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and send a copy to their payroll department.

But this process should not be completed yet, according to the CRA.

The page the form has been posted on notes employees should not complete the form, give a copy to their employers or send the original to the CRA before Dec. 1.

The form can be viewed as a PDF at: cpt30-11e.pdf
