Employer fined for failure to hand over payroll records

Saskatchewan construction firm fined $310

A Saskatchewan employer has been fined after it failed to provide payroll records to the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety.

Kerry James Porter, operating as Kerry James Construction in Moose Jaw, pled guilty to one charge under the province’s Labour Standards Act and was fined $310 in provincial court.

“The Employment Standards Division of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Saskatchewan Employment Act and regulations,” the government said in a press release. “Whenever necessary, violators will be prosecuted.”
