Will recognize job search query and return set of open jobs that match
Google has announced it will be introducing “Google for Jobs” over the next few weeks in the United States, with expansion to other countries in the near future.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai introduced the concept at the company’s annual I/O conference in San Francisco on May 17.
Google for Jobs will recognize when a job search query is entered into Google Search and return a set of open jobs that match the query, according to Forbes. Google plans to leverage its advanced machine learning capabilities to bring together jobs that fit the query, even though employers may have described jobs using different terminology.
The user will be able to edit the returned job listings by job title, experience required, wage, when the job was posted, where it’s located, the commute distance from their home, whether the job is full- or part-time and more.
Google will find jobs by accessing job boards and staffing agencies and through partnerships with established employment-information resources such as Monster, LinkedIn, Facebook, CareerBuilder and Glassdoor, according to Forbes. Google has been piloting the concept with FedEx and Johnson & Johnson, according to Pichai, and the companies have since seen an 18 per cent increase in the number of applicants
