McDonald's is now offering job applicants a new way to apply for a job with its company – voice-initiated technology.

The restaurant chain has collaborated with Amazon's Alexa as part of its recruitment process.

Job applicants can say, "Alexa, help me get a job at McDonald's" or use any device with the Google Assistant built-in by saying, "OK Google, talk to McDonald's Apply Thru."

As this function is further developed, Canadians will be able to activate by saying, "OK Google, help me get a job at McDonald's,” said the company.

The voice experience is available in both English and French, and users can jump-start their application process by providing basic information. Potential applicants receive a brief text message shortly thereafter with a link to continue their application process.

“Incorporating voice technology is a new and convenient way for us to engage candidates and for them to learn more about the different career opportunities available at McDonald's. It's a world first in recruiting," says Stephanie Hardman, chief people officer at McDonald's Canada.

"This functionality is an important step in our ongoing journey to find innovative ways to connect with Canadians and to help kick-start a career at McDonald's Canada."
