Deadline for entries to Nova Scotia’s Mainstay Awards Jan. 31, 2011

Awards recognize individuals, organizations and employers who demonstrate excellence in workplace safety

The third annual Mainstay Awards recognize individuals, organizations and employers in Nova Scotia who demonstrate excellence in workplace safety.

The awards are presented by the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCB) and the department of Nova Scotia Labour and Workforce Development. Sixteen trophies will be awarded in seven categories.

This year’s awards program is structured to recognize more individuals and encourage representation from labour groups throughout the province.

The Mainstay Awards recognize Nova Scotians — the organizations, companies and individuals that reside and work in the province — as leaders in promoting a culture of safety. Effective injury prevention and return-to-work management programs or initiatives are publically rewarded, resulting in positive company morale, corporate reputation and ultimately, a competitive market advantage, according to the WCB and Nova Scotia Labour and Workforce Development.

The deadline for entries is Jan. 31, 2011, and can be made at mainstayawards.ca
