Shift premium: 115% of employee’s regular rate for shift beginning between 4 p.m. and 6 a.m. Between $0.50 and $2 per hour may be applied, at employer’s discretion, for employees who have demonstrated skills and abilities beyond their current classification’s requirements.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 6% paid out. Any unused time may be carried over to following year and will be paid out if not used by last pay of March each year.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Double time after 11 hours per day. Time and one-half for all work on Saturday. Double time for all work on Sunday.
Medical benefits: Employer pays $1.81 per hour into CLAC Health and Welfare Trust Fund, after 350 hours worked. Employer will pay for each employee’s Alberta Health Care Plan costs.
Dental: 100% coverage, maximum $2,000 per person per year for basic services. 50% coverage, maximum $2,000 per person per year for comprehensive services. 50% coverage, maximum $3,000 lifetime maximum per child younger than 19 for orthodontic.
Vision: $300 per year for dependants younger than 21; $300 every 2 years for dependants, employees older than 21.
Sick leave: 2 days per year, to be used for personal illness or to care for immediate family member, after 1 year of service; 3 days after 7 years of service. Any days not taken will be paid out on last pay of year.
STD: Coverage of 60% of weekly basic earnings, maximum $600 per week, payable after first day of accident or hospitalization, and 14th day of illness, maximum 119 days.
LTD: Coverage of 60% of earnings, maximum $2,600 per month, payable after 119 days.
AD&D: Coverage of $100,000.
Life insurance: Coverage of $100,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute $0.75 per hour to union-sponsored group RSP for each employee, for each hour worked. Employer will contribute $0.50 per hour (previously $0.30 per hour), employee contributes $0.50 per hour (previously $0.30 per hour). Employer will contribute 1% to CLAC pension plan,for all hours worked, for each employee who elects to contribute at least 1% of wage rate to pension plan for all hours worked. Employer will contribute 3% after 10 years of service.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of spouse, common-law spouse, child, legal dependant, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours of pay at appropriate rate.
Probationary period: 90 working days.
Uniforms/clothing: All employees recalled after 1 season’s work (minimum of 10 months’ work) will be eligible for clothing allowance of $300 per year. $150 each will be paid out on pay period closest to May 15, Sept. 30 of each year.
Tool allowance: Employees are responsible for all tools and equipment issued to them. Employer will provide adequate security for all tool storage onsite.

Editor’s notes: Travel compensation: Free travel zone of 60-kilometre radius around base of operations. Travel in excess of 60-kilometre radius will be paid as per CRA guidelines. On all projects where employee is transported in employer’s vehicle to and from job from marshalling point, such as employer’s shop, employee will be paid travel allowance at regular rate of pay for actual time travelled. Subsistence allowance: When employees are required to be away from normal place of residence overnight (more than 75 kilometres from employer’s base of operations), employer will supply accommodation and meal allowance of$62.50 per day (previously $55 per day). Alternately, employer may pay $125 per day (previously $110 per day) to cover room and board and $62.50 for last day of work (previously $55).
