Monster.ca finds out what workers really want
Employees value challenging and fulfilling work over pay and career advancement, according to a new poll.
The online survey by career resources website Monster.ca found 53 per cent of respondents said, as employees, they most valued "challenging work that is fulfilling."
Only 27 per cent of the 4,721 respondents picked "financial gain and advancement" and 20 per cent placed a priority on job security.
"It is interesting to note that while we are working harder than ever and enjoying a high standard of living in Canada, most Canadians working today say they value challenging work that's fulfilling, over the more basic returns of pay, status, and job security," said Peter Gilfillan, vice-president of sales and general manager at Monster Canada.
