Canadian HR Reporter launches new website
A few months ago, I hinted there was “more to come” with all the improvements we’ve been making to Canadian HR Reporter to better serve readers. Well, the wait is over. On July 22, we pulled back the curtains on a new www.hrreporter.com.
The changes are much more than just a redesign or a simple freshening of the look. It’s designed to showcase all the new elements we deliver as part of your subscription to Canadian HR Reporter. Here’s a brief rundown of what’s on the website.
Multimedia Centre: In the fall of 2009, we launched Canadian HR Reporter TV. We’ve given this great news and information service a new home. Videos are featured on the home page, plus the Multimedia Centre houses a searchable archive of clips.
We’ve also added a section on webinars. Here you’ll find a mix of upcoming and archived webinars. Some webinars are available free to subscribers, others you can purchase for a nominal fee. Keep an eye on the webinars sections as we’re working hard to bring you timely, relevant topics throughout the year.
Plus we now have four active blogs. Employment law editor Jeffrey R. Smith is keeping readers informed about legal topics; labour relations editor Gord Sova is keeping tabs on the bargaining table; Dave Crisp, former head of HR at HBC, is a regular contributor to the strategic HR blog; and I’ve launched my own blog that looks at the world of HR. Be sure to check them out and don’t be afraid to chime in with your opinions in the comments section.
More powerful search: You’ll notice a new option on the advanced search page that lets you use exact phrases. You can also search videos, webinars and articles — or any combination thereof. It makes finding the information you’re looking for easier and faster. You’ll also see search results from sister publications appearing in the right-hand margin — just another way we’re helping you find the information you need.
New links to sister publications: Clicking on “Health & Safety” now takes you to the home page for Canadian Safety Reporter, while clicking on “Employment Law” brings you to the website for Canadian Employment Law Today. Surf on over and see what these must-have publications have to offer. We’re also offering special introductory subscription offers for both publications. And all the sites have the same handy navigation bar at the top, so you can switch seamlessly between the different publications.
Daily news: Our journalists are constantly digging up new stories — more than we have space for in the pages of Canadian HR Reporter. So we’re posting daily news items. Check in with us regularly online to stay on top of the news that matters to your profession.
Read issues online: You can read the current issue of Canadian HR Reporter, plus the 10 most recent issues, online. Your subscription also gives you full access to the online, searchable archive which contains thousands of articles dating back to June 2000. It’s a fantastic research tool.
Carswell bookstore: Looking for compliance information? Some general HR advice? Best practices from other organizations? We’ve improved the online bookstore to make it even easier to peruse the wide range of titles from Carswell.
HR Guide and more: Looking to purchase HR products and services? The online HR Guide vendor directory is the perfect place to start. You can browse hundreds of companies by keyword, topic area and location. You can also check out the events calendar, the HR job board and find information about advertising in Canadian HR Reporter.
We hope you like what you see.
