Six in 10 Canadians would like more vacation over pay raise: survey

Nearly six in 10 (57 per cent) Canadians would prefer more vacation time over a pay increase, according to a survey by e-commerce company Rakuten.ca.

"Not only are Canadians prioritizing time off over salary increases, 57 per cent don't consider it a vacation unless they travel somewhere," says Claire Sweeney, vice-president of marketing at Rakuten.ca.

One-quarter (26 per cent) of respondents plan to take four weeks or more of vacation time in 2020, found the survey of 1,000 Canadians.

Topping their planned leisure escapes are road trips (35 per cent), beach vacations (32 per cent) and all-inclusive resorts (24 per cent).
