Canadian Hearing Society, CUPE 2073 finalize new agreement

Organization to restore full service to community

The Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) said a new collective agreement was ratified May 12 by members of Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 2073, the local representing the unionized employees.

"The organization's goal has always been to achieve a collective agreement that meets the interests of both its employees and the organization for the long term, while continuing to provide the much-needed services and programs for the clients it serves. We believe this agreement achieves these goals," said Julia Dumanian, CHS president and CEO.

The agreement includes retroactive wage increases and a short-term disability program that provides all CHS employees with income protection in the event of an unforeseen injury or illness, said the CHS.

Effective May 15, full service resumes at Canadian Hearing Society offices across Ontario, said the organization.
