Employees at Robert Tellier IGA in Saint-Jérôme, Que., sign new deal

Two per cent raise, lump-sum payments part of agreement: UFCW

Workers at the Marché Robert Tellier IGA in Saint-Jérôme, Que., ratified a new collective agreement on Feb. 5.

The contract is retroactive to Nov. 26, 2017.

Employees will see an annual wage increase of two per cent for those workers who are at the top of the pay scale, said the union.

The 120 workers — represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 500 — achieved a number of other gains, including an annual 2.5% lump-sum payment for off-scale members, the creation of two part-time worker categories (those who are always available and those with limited availability) and vision care insurance.

As well, employees will enjoy the employer’s contribution to the UFCW Quebec Dental Plan to provide benefit coverage at 80 per cent.

“Congratulations to the bargaining committee on this new agreement”, said Antonio Filato, President of UFCW Local 500. “It will consolidate quality jobs and maintain good working conditions over the duration of the agreement.”
