Food service workers at Le Germain Hotel in Toronto become the newest United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW) Canada, Local 175 members on Aug. 23.

About 30 employees work as servers, cooks, stewards and bartenders. The workers saw the benefits of belonging to a union as there were other employees in the hotel already unionized, says the union.

Workers cited wage increases and transparency in the way tips are distributed as main concerns and a reason for contacting the union, says UFCW.
