Wages, benefits improve with new contract: CLAC
Employees of Mapleridge Mechanical Contracting, based in Pickering, Ont., ratified a new three-year collective agreement providing them with improvements to wages and benefits.
“This was a very productive round of negotiations, and the employees were pleased with the results,” says J. D. Alkema, CLAC regional director. “The new contract also provides a path forward for the employer to successfully bid on and obtain new work.”
The agreement includes total package increases of about 12 percent over the term. Premiums were negotiated for both forepersons and lead-hands. The contract also includes improvements to travel and personal protective equipment provisions, says the union.
