McGill University support workers on strike

20 meetings have yielded little progress

The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Association of McGill University Support Employees (AMUSE) have ordered a five-day strike.

"The employer is not taking us seriously," said Claire Michela, AMUSE president. “We have no other choice but to launch a strike this morning."

The AMUSE contract expired on April 19, 2015 and there has been little progress in negotiations, according to the union.

After 20 meetings — half of which before a conciliator — AMUSE members gave their bargaining team a strike mandate on Oct. 20.
